For most of my adult life work boots have been a daily feature. In addition to wearing them, time is spent buying the boots, maintaining the boots, cleaning the boots and organizing the work boots, when more than one pair come into the picture. I see them in photos over the past 40 years in the background, foreground, inside, outside wherever they have to be at the moment.
The most recent arrangement, with two field workers in the family, is boots organized on the bench shown here. On an ordinary day like any other, a client came into our home office and sat down. After a moment he asked “Who do these boots belong too?” He was told some are these belong to the man of the house, others to our son who works in the family business and is soon to graduate from “the university.” The client was delighted to learn that the graduate’s degree was in the field he was looking to hire. The job offer, decision making and all the details will be interesting to watch. He got the job as a Civil Engineer in training and loves it! What impressed me is how an everyday item stashed in it’s place can spur such a promising conversation. So much for keeping your boots lined up. I like my twist on Nancy Sinatra’s song!
Some of my other favorite moments photographing boots….
Once upon a time we had a little kitten who loved taking her afternoon nap in the work boots!
Il était une fois que nous avions un petit chat qui aimait prendre sa sieste dans les bottes de travail!
